Chemistry Honors-Period 7 Assignments

As many of you know I LOVE projects- I think it is a fun way to assess ones learning and bring out their creativity. 

This is the last project for the year... so make it your best!

This unit we are learning about organic functional groups and hydrocarbons. In this project you will pick your own organic compound and create a poster OR slideshow for it. Attached in this assignment is the directions and grading process so make sure you check it to see what is required. 


To make sure everyone has a DIFFERENT ORGANIC COMPOUND, please fill out the class chart with your name and the organic compound IUPAC name you will be doing the project on. 

This counts as a 30 point quiz grade!!! :) and is due on Friday June 2nd, 2023 at the start of class. 

Tomorrow our class will be completing a lab, please complete these pre lab questions that was handed out in class and submit a photo of your work. 

Since we still have our orgo test coming up I thought it would be best to work backwards today in class you will be reviewing organic chemistry.

Instructions:
On pages 197-198 complete the regents questions 1-10
On pages 200-201 complete the questions 19-33
On pages 204-205 complete questions 34-46

This homework assignment is worth 25 points.

Each day it is late you will get 5 points off.

Hi all! Our unit 7 test is coming on on 3/10. The month of March is Women's History Month. I am giving you the opportunity to get 5 extra points on your unit 7 exam while learning about the amazing women who left a mark in the STEM community! 

Directions: 


Using the website Canva and/or making a poster on paper, choose a historical woman figure in STEM (any kind of science, technology, engineering and mathematics). In the poster you must include a photograph of this induvial, their full name, birthday date, date of passing (if they passed away, if they are alive still put still alive), 3 important facts about them (what did they do, what are they known for, etc) and lastly your name and citations. 

I hope that you choose to do this to learn about the historical women in STEM!!! 

You will get a paper copy and pH strips, make sure you hold onto them because Ms. M is not going to give you more. This project is worth 20 points as a quiz. Due date: Tuesday Feb 28th, 2023

10 points extra credit!!! All throughout the unit you have the opportunity to work on regents questions in your notes packet. If you answer all of the unit packet questions you will get 10 points on this upcoming unit 6 exam, it will not cross over to our unit 7 exam. You must submit the extra credit by 8:00am on Feb 6th. If you use a digital copy of the unit packet, upload your copy here. If not you can show me your paper copy and I will check it off.

This is an optional extra credit assignment FOR ANYONE WHO GOT BELOW A 100.  If you choose to do it, it is due by Friday October 7th at midnight and you will receive 5 points on your Unit 1 exam grade.
